How To Gear Laser Tag Games To Any Age And Experience Level

By Elaine Guthrie

When you find a fun activity to add to a party that you are planning, your entire event may go much more smoothly. Laser tag games can be fun for many different people but depending on who your guests are, you may need to modify your games in one of several different ways. Here are some tips that you can use to make sure your games are as fun as possible and that your guests enjoy themselves.

Tag is great for people because it is an active game that can wear people out and provide them with fantastic exercise. If you know that you are dealing with players who have mobility issues or younger players who may not be able to handle long periods of activity, you may want to keep matches short and switch out players at regular intervals. Instead of physically contacting other players, in a laser tag bout one player will use a laser gun to trigger a sensor.

Older players may want to try a version that has tactical elements in it as well as the athletic aspects of running. Some versions played in San Diego Ca include hiding in and around various structures and attempting to take out other players by zapping them. Winning can be accomplished either by not being zapped or, in some versions, having your gun register the highest number of points from zapping other players.

Some areas have arenas that are permanently set up for this game. These can be a lot of fun to take a group to and will often host events. The courses often include dim lighting and smoke or fog machines to make visibility worse and increase the difficulty level of the course. These may be fun for older, more experienced players. If you are considering going to a facility such as this, you may want to make sure that they offer other activities as well, just in case some of your guests prefer to sit out for a match or two.

When preparing to play this game, each player will put on sensors. These are usually located on the front and back of the torso. Each player will also be given a laser gun that emits a beam. This beam strikes a sensor and a hit is recorded. Some games simply record a hit, others will cause the sensor to vibrate or register a different number of points depending on which sensor is triggered.

The age of your players should affect the number of rules that you have in any game. Very young players may do best with less structured matches as it can reduce the level of player frustration. If players have tried this game before you may want to add in a few more rules as their age level increases. Just remember to keep an eye on the players to make sure they are not getting tired.

Keep in mind also whether you want to have all of the players on the field at once or if you want to break your guests into several groups. If you are going to have some players sitting out it can be helpful to have another activity for them to take part in while they are not playing tag. Also consider whether or not you want to have the winners of smaller matches play against one another.

As you can see, its not hard to find a version of this game that will work for your next party. All you need to keep in mind is the number of players, their age or experience level, and the amount of space you have to work with and you, too can have a fun and exciting event that your guests will remember.
